Finding Josie's was a bit of an adventure in itself. After spotting a small sign along R571 just past the village of Lauragh, we veered off to explore. The narrow dirt road, winding for nearly three kilometers, made us think we'd stumbled upon a local secret. With each twist, the anticipation grew... until suddenly, the shimmering expanse of Glanmore Lake and Josie's cozy haven appeared.
Josie's Tea House is situated overlooking Glanmore Lake. Inside as well as outside dining are options. While the menu features classic Irish staples, the setting elevates the entire experience. The Irish stew is hearty and satisfying, but even a simple cup of tea feels like a luxury only Ireland could offer, where the chatter of birds mingles with the gentle lapping of waves, and time seems to slow its pace.
Even if you're not hungry for a full meal, Josie's offers a tempting dessert selection. We always try to squeeze in a stop, even if just for tea and sweets, to soak up the tranquility.
